December 2006 16" x 22" Dream Wool batting Many colors of YLI #100 Silk thread in the needle Ecru YLI #100 Silk thread in the bobbin This is a free motion machine quilting piece I made during two weeks in December. Inspired by a comment on Diane Gaudynski's web site about the use of 'white on white' background fabrics for machine quilting, I panicked about the backgrounds I had chosen for my Baltimore Album blocks (in progress since 2003). The front is made of 3 different pieces of fabric, sewn horizontally - one each of the background fabrics used in my different Baltimore Album blocks. I also experimented with different colors of silk thread in the needle. Scroll down for a detailed photos from the front, and a view of the back, which is white muslin sewn with ecru silk thread in the bobbin. |
